Its the middle of July, the nights are pleasantly warm and so is the sea 🌊 I recently joint an evening Catamaran cruise with Cava ( Spanish Prosecco) and BBQ.
It sets off at 7pm sharp at the Caleta de Velez harbour. Being on a boat relaxed me immediately. The light sea breeze, the movement of the water - for me it’s simply beautiful. The boat headed east, towards Torrox. We smoothly left Caleta, passed Algarrobo Costa and Mezquitilla, went further on to Lagos and stopped for a swim just before El Morche. From a boat - from the sea side - you notice different things along the coastline, such as hidden villas which you don’t see from the road. The swim was followed by a BBQ, we watched a stunning sunset on the way back and were back in Caleta at 10pm.
The Catamaran takes up to 30 guests, and we were 30 ladies! Yes, it was a girls cruise. Organised by “Costa Women Axarquia”. Have you heard about Costa Women? It is a free community for Women living, or moving to Spain, founded 2010. Today, there are almost 10.000 members from 128 countries, and 28 regional groups in Spain 🇪🇸 meeting regularly and organising events.
For me, Costa Women was the door-opener to meet new people in the area when we moved here in July 2018. Meet. Chat. Laugh. I met so many interesting ladies from all around the world, I have created a large network which is still growing and some of them I am proud calling ‘friends’ now. Whenever we see each other we have a fabulous time, and I usually make sure to attend the monthly Costa Women events.
Talking networking, just to name a few ladies and their businesses on the cruise: Ashlyn - publishes the Ocio lifestyle Magazine in the Axarquia. Hanni - organises food events in Malaga. Nikki - wedding celebrant at the Costa Del Sol. Debbie - creating wonderful crochet & hand sewn fashion designs. Karen - pilates teacher with weekly classes. Sabine (myself 😁) - Marketing Communications professional and Blogger. And there are many more doing, organising amazing things, jobs, events etc. Whenever you need something or someone, just ask the Costa Women network.
Back to the catamaran cruise. Its lots of fun, but you need to consider:
Be careful if you might get seasick. I have done this catamaran cruise a few times and I have seen people being very (!) seasick 🤮 although it’s a catamaran (which is more stable then a sailing boat) and the sea was not too choppy.
Please consider the BBQ is not 5star cuisine, they usually do burgers and sausages which is ok(ish). Veggie options are served on request.
Apart from that, if you like a day or evening on a boat, that’s your place to go. Caleta harbour is beautiful in all ways, see my other blog about it https://en.andalucia-mi-amor.com/post/puerto-de-caleta
I am sailing. Are you?
